Trinity of Youth Introduces Lactic Acid-Based BrilliantFx Body Serum For Dry, Cracked Skin

Some of the best and most effective skincare products are not found at high-end department stores or on the shelves down the beauty aisles. The best kept beauty secret is closer to home than you think.

For years, natural foods found in the kitchen have been used to aid in skincare. Pantries and refrigerators seem to be packed with healing agents, from egg white face mask to tighten pores to lemon juice for your hair; from cucumbers for your eyes to honey for your skin. Women probably know and have used about most of them - except, perhaps, the one that's found in their dairy section at the local grocery store: milk (aka lactic acid). Part of the alpha hydroxy family, this key ingredient gives the term “milky complexion” a whole new meaning.

It’s not always about discovering new manufactured ingredients or science heavy technology,” says Diane Zokle, co-founder of Trinity of Youth Skincare. “Time-tested ingredients tend to exceed expectations. For instance, it is said that queen Cleopatra of Egypt bathed in spoiled milk, naturally derived lactic acid, to preserve her beauty. The key to making these ingredients work optimally without irritation is using them in the recommended percentage by volume, at the right pH.  An ingredient like lactic acid can be a very effective anti-aging agent and moisturizer if it is used in the right volume in a mixture.  Because lactic acid has a lower pH than glycolic, its sister acid, it is highly tolerable for most of the population.” The most important thing for consumers to remember is that new and cutting edge ingredients can be irritating with repeated use. Unless a large study with a diverse population is performed, over time, the safety and efficacy of these new “cutting edge” ingredients is unknown. However, Diane states, “a product like Lactic Acid has been studied for decades, and has been in use for hundreds of years.  In fact, all one needs to do is to look at the menu of services at their dermatologist’s office or plastic surgeon’s office to see that the alpha hydroxy acids are still very much on the menu of treatments. Because of their reliability and repeated good results, they are still the chemical agent of choice for many skin issues.

What is Lactic Acid?

Lactic acid is a type of alpha hydroxy acids (AHA). The AHA family is comprised of various ingredients derived from sugar cane, fruit and milk. As the name suggests, lactic acid can be derived from milk, after a steady process of fermentation. This a powerful exfoliant is very effective in reducing fine lines, wrinkles, age spots and hyperpigmentation. Moreover, it also enhances the skin texture and stimulates the production of collagen within the skin cells.

Benefits of Lactic Acid:

  • Intensive hydrating and moisturizing properties.
  • Improves signs of premature skin aging caused by extrinisic factors such as sun damage and intrinsic signs of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Acts as an exfoliant and makes the skin soft and rejuvenated.
  • Stimulates collagen production.
  • Acts as an antibacterial agent.
  • Treats skin problems such as acne and oily skin breakouts.

What is BrilliantFx Body Serum?

BrilliantFx Body Serum is the first exfoliating and moisturizing body serum to introduce a skin-healing mixture of ingredients all in one bottle. It contains a high percentage of lactic acid at an effective pH and incorporates this key ingredient in a formula that is unlike any anti-aging body product on the market today.  “After noticing a void in the market for an effective anti-aging body treatment and potent moisturizer for dry, cracked or aging skin, we embarked on our mission to create this revolutionary body serum,” explains Diane Zokle. “By using naturally occurring medicinal agents that have been used for thousands of years, we can now offer our unique mixture that both alleviates dry, cracked skin and improves the appearance of aging skin on the body.”

In addition to lactic acid, BrilliantFx Body Serum is specially formulated with the powerful herbal ingredient arnica montana commonly known as wolf’s bane or leopard’s bane, a European flowering plant containing an active secondary plant metabolite sesquiterpene lactones, which acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. Flavanoids and essential oils theoretically act with the sesquiterpene lactones in Arnica montana to induce its therapeutic effects.

The third distinctive key ingredient in the is vitamin E. In terms of skin health and skin care, vitamin E benefits are numerous. Because of its antioxidant activity, vitamin E is vital in protecting skin cells from ultra violet light, pollution, drugs, and other elements that produce cell damaging free radicals. The vitamin E benefits for healthy skin care also include its ability to regulate vitamin A in the body, which itself is important for healthy skin. It helps skin look younger by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Also, free radicals are believed to play an important role in skin aging and therefore the antioxidant activity is quite valuable for this skin problem.

Who Should Use BrilliantFx?

Everyone over the age of 10 may safely use this product, especially those who have sun damaged skin, dry rough skin, cracked skin or inflammatory skin conditions. Apply daily as needed to alleviate dry, cracked skin and various other skin conditions. BrilliantFx does not contain SPF, and is not recommended for those who are pregnant.  Diane notes that the unique thing about BrilliantFx is that it is a body serum unlike competitor’s body products. “In order to most efficiently deliver these 3 main ingredients below the surface of the skin, a serum base must be used. Otherwise, they will most likely rest on top of the skin’s surface where they will do little work.” In addition, Diane is quick to point out that BrilliantFx may have a different feel than lotions, since it is in a thicker, richer base. “The reason we knew it had to be in a richer, thicker base, like a serum, is due to the fact that extremely dry skin, sun damaged skin, ashen or itchy skin types can't get by with simple raw ingredients; they also need emollients sitting on top of the skin to soothe and provide protection for the impaired surface of the skin.”  Diane points out that most people searching for the ultimate body product make the mistake of using lotions to alleviate their skin problems. “Using lotions to treat dry, sun damaged skin is a little like using only chicken soup to treat a cold.  Although there is some relief upon contact, the symptoms do not dissipate which can lead to frequent application of the product with little or no results.”  Diane states that if you want to get serious about your body care, you need to use tried and clinically proven ingredients in a rich serum base. This is the only way that you will see immediate results and relief. It may feel different upon initial use, but repeated use and significant results will validate the use of serums as the most effective way to help your skin problems.
