SUMMARY: AmLactin's Ultra Hydrating Body Cream is a little known secret to combating severe dry skin with its unique, Alpha-hydroxy therapy formula. Perfect for those troubled with winter-worn skin!
ABOUT THE BRAND: "AmLactin® is the #1 moisturizer brand recommended by dermatologists and podiatrists. Our formulas also contain emollients and humectants that help retain the skin’s natural moisture and draw water to the skin so it looks and feels soft and smooth. AmLactin® moisturizers contain alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) which are effective at exfoliating and hydrating the skin." AmLactin on Facebook.
USE: Applied regularly (twice daily) to severe or persistent dry skin, AmLactin Hydrating Body cream both exfoliates and hydrates skin with its rich humectants and emollients. My dermatologist recommended AmLactin for a patch of dry skin on the top of my right foot. After daily use over a 2-week period I saw noticeable, permanent improvement.
Caution: For external use only. Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes, lips, and mucous membranes or broken skin. Mild irritation, stinging, or rash may occur on sensitive or broken skin or when used on the face. If irritation or rash continues, discontinue use and consult a physician. Sunburn Alert: This product contains an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin's sensitivity to sunburn. Be sun smart: Use sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterward.
AROMA & TEXTURE: AmLactin's patented formula is completely fragrance-free. However, there is a light pasty odor that lingers upon application. The texture is a thick white cream that absorbs quickly into the skin and leaves no greasy residue.
NUMBER OF TIMES TESTED: 15+ times from a tube I purchased from my dermatologist.
INGREDIENTS: Water, Ammonium Lactate, Sodium Lactate, Potassium Lactate, Mineral Oil, Petrolatum, Emulsifying Wax, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Stearic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Ultraplex Formula (Ammonium Lactate, Potassium Lactate, Sodium Lactate).
ABOUT THE PACKAGING: The Hydrating Body Cream is typically sold in a 4.9 oz flip-top squeeze tube.
WHERE CAN I BUY IT? Download a coupon from http://amlactin.com/. The 4.9 oz tube retails for ~$15 USD at numerous stores and online.
PROS & CONS: AmLactin's Hydrating Body Cream is superb at treating dry skin for a reasonable price without a prescription. I've tried aloe lotions, emollient oils, and other supermarket moisturizing products and nothing was able to heal my dry skin as quickly or as comfortably. Some internet reviews also suggest that it helps with Keratosis Pilaris though other reviews indicate that it was of no help. Numerous reviewers have complained about the aroma of this unscented product which does contain petroleum and parabens.
THE BOTTOM LINE: At less than $20 USD, AmLactin Hydrating Body Cream is a dermatologist-recommended, prescription-free, fragrance-free severe dry skin treatment that actually works.
