Christian Louboutin Les Yeux Noirs Collection

The famous shoe designer, Christian Louboutin, is getting ready to launch yet another makeup category! Building upon the success of his luxurious nail lacquers, lip colors, and lip liners, Louboutin announces the launch of his four-product, eye-focused color cosmetics collection.

As Christian Louboutin Beauté refers it, the range, which is aptly named Les Yeux Noirs (Dark Eyes), will include a mascara named Lash Amplifying Lacquer, Luminous Ink Liner, Velvet Eye Definer, and Brow Definer.

Louboutin, who first ventured into color cosmetics three years ago, turned, once again, to ancient Egypt for inspiration.

The designer delved further into the symbolism of ancient Egypt– a place and culture that constantly feeds his imagination—for the creation of the remarkable packaging: the Egyptian motifs of lotus flower petals and obelisks meld with Art Deco geometry to create these modern objets d’arts. - press release

The makeup looks, envisioned by Christian Louboutin, are inspired by Kathakali, which is a highly stylized classical Indian dance-drama. Kathakali is a "story play" genre of art notable for its bold make up, costumes, and face masks, where emotions and mood are expressed through "facial and eye" movements. The collection is fronted by Sonia Ben Ammar, who is a French model, singer, and actress.

Unfortunately, the Les Yeux Noirs collection will NOT include eyeshadows, but Catherine Roggero, general manager of Christian Louboutin Beauté, confirmed the brand will do eyeshadow “at some point.” Now, let’s take a closer look at this intriguing new launch!

Christian Louboutin Lash Amplifying Lacquer ($70) is a flake-resistant, super-saturated mascara, delivered in a unique brass container. The mascara features a short brush wand, and a water-resistant formula. Formulated with ingredients to give a luminous effect, without any sparkle, the finish of this mascara mimics the shine of patent leather. Available in Black and Sevillana, a rich burgundy.

Christian Louboutin Oeil Vinyle Luminous Ink Liner ($75) is a luxurious liquid eyeliner, presented in a geometric, sleek, studded bottle. Its long handle, and precise, thin brush, make drawing on a fine line quick and easy.

The lacquer-like formula is available in three shades. Try tracing a red eyeliner along your lash line this spring!

• Lady Twist - teal.

Christian Louboutin Oeil Velours Velvet Eye Definer ($40), a creamy, precision-tip eyeliner, comes in five shades.

The rich culture and colors of India have been translated to products saturated with rich pigments for the purest and deepest impact! Yellow eyeliner? Why not?

• Khol - black,
• Zoulou - auburn,
• Fierce - plum,
• Deep Teal – peacock blue, and
• Hot Chick - yellow.

Christian Louboutin Oeil Velours Brow Definer ($40) includes a brow pencil on one end and a spoolie brush on the other. The brow-defining pencil is designed to give a natural smudge-proof finish, that lasts all day long.

Available in four shades: Blonde, Brunette, Auburn, and Taupe.
