Clarins introduces the eighth generation of Double Serum

Clarins Double Serum was first introduced in 1985, and ever since then it has remained the brand’s best-selling skincare product. As the company had moved technology forward, Double Serum continually evolved over the years. This summer, Clarins introduces the eight generation of Double Serum, which comes with a reworked formula and a brand new packaging.

The exciting new launch is dedicated to women who have been using Double Serum for years, and who want to keep their favorite product, but without compromising on innovation. While the current product focused on the needs of the cells – needs for water, oxygen, nutrients, protection and regeneration – the new formula also highlights cells’ listening capacity.

With a little bit of help from the School of Medical Studies in Namur, Belgium, Clarins discovered that skin cells have something like a listening capacity, the set of receptors that can catch messages from the environment. With age, the number of these receptors reduces, so as the skin cells’ vital functions. The result is a less radiant skin, showing the first signs of aging.

Clarins’s new Double Serum is announced as the first skin care product that is able to boost the listening capacity of cells. The secret to their success is an extract based on turmeric, rich in in turmerone, a “communication” molecule. The proprietary ingredient is able to boost the recovery and new creation of these small receptors, so the skin can monitor its environment and adjust properly.

The formula also includes plant extracts from 20 different sources, including horse chestnut, kiwi, red jania, and teasel. Among the plants, nine of them are organic, and three come from fair trade. In combination with the turmeric extract, the powerful new cocktail boosts the skin’s vital functions better than the current formula of Double Serum.

The packaging has also been updated, to help consumers access the right dosage of the formula. By twisting the top of the new dual-chamber bottle, it is possible to either release a larger or a smaller drop, each containing the perfect ratio of both lipidic and hydric component. The serum, a mix of oil and gel, penetrates quickly without leaving any greasy residue. It can be used any time of the day, and is great to combine with other products.

The new Double Serum, which will launch exclusively in the Clarins store in the King of Prussia Mall, outside Philadelphia, on July 24. The U.S. rollout is scheduled for August the 7th; Canadian launch is on August the 11th; while the international rollout is planned for September the 1st.  In France, the 30-ml. bottle of the product retails for 86 euros, or $96.30 at current exchange, and the 50-ml. version for 120 euros, or $134.35.
