MAC #MACPoesia Makeup Collection

Earlier this week, M.A.C Cosmetics has announced its #MACPoesia makeup collection, which is designed in collaboration with Chinese designer Chris Chang of Poesia.

Today, we’ll get back to this topic to examine it more closely. As you can see, the creativity and artistry of Chang’s designs has been transfused into this captivating and bold makeup collection, which, just like all of her creations, screams color. Though Chris Chang is a fashion designer, her designs transcend the realm of fashion, and many fashion observers often refer to them as wearable works of art. Chang typically derives her inspiration from the beauty of flora and fauna, the ornate dresses of China’s ethnic minorities, and traditional costumes from around the world, but this time she was drawn to the elaborate display of Kunqu – one of the oldest forms of traditional Chinese opera.

For this limited edition collection, Chris Chang has created an amalgam from the poetic spirit of Kunqu, and psychedelic, futuristic appeal of the Poesia brand. The collection is all about clashing shades and textures, the spirit of juxtaposition in which light and dark, classic and avant-garde, and east and west collide together beautifully.

Speaking about the collection, Chris Chang said: “My inspiration comes from the traditional aesthetics of ethnic tribes and costumes from various countries, as well as the transformative world of art.

My clothes are imbued with a supercharged drama both individualistic and childlike in its interpretation. My designs are for women who are eccentric and confident. Color is the integral fuel of my imagination and the spirit M·A·C and I share.  This collaboration is a dream come true for the maximalists of the world.”

“When I first met Chris, I was immediately drawn to her vibrant personality and quirky, colorful and quite girly aesthetic. It was love at first sight!  Like all of our collaborations, Chris’s inspiration is infused in every aspect of the creation, from product design, shade selection, to campaign visual.  We even created together a campaign video, of which Chris is featured in.  I can’t wait to share with the world this playful, joyful and colorful collection.”
