ModelCo launches a makeup line with Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld is teaming up with Australian beauty and cosmetics brand ModelCo, for a very special limited edition makeup collection.

Just as Lagerfeld is no stranger to makeup, ModelCo is tightly associated with fashion. The brand is established by a former modelling agent Shelley Sullivan, who sourced inspiration from her fashionable clientele: models, makeup artists, and stylists. 

The collection’s promotional campaign, named “Kiss Me Karl,” features model Stella Maxwell and an animated 3-D character of Lagerfeld.


The exclusive Karl Lagerfeld + ModelCo makeup collection is set to launch internationally on May 14. The line, comprising more than 50 stock-keeping units, is said to be aimed at people of any age who might like it. The collection includes various products topped with a stylized bust of Karl Lagerfeld distinguished by his signature ponytail, tie, and oversized black sunglasses. Some of the packaging is dedicated to the designer’s beloved cat Choupette.

In Lagerfeld’s own words, everything started from a couple of his drawings. The collection revolves around the theme of “illuminated beauty,” so every product is based on a luminous formula and high-tech packaging. For example, the Lip Lights range - which is a collection of eight matte lipsticks, eight lip glosses, and four special effect top coats – features a built-in led light and a mirror.


The collection also includes a long-lasting liquid liner, intense black volumizing mascara, a fiber brow gel and crayon duo, powder highlighter, and Lagerfeld-inspired makeup brushes.



The collection is rather affordable with prices ranging from $15 for the lip balm to $28 for the lipstick and lip gloss, and $65 for the Choupette Collectible Eyeshadow Palette Day to Night. The most expensive item is a small handbag loaded with five lip products and adorned with Lagerfeld’s signature in pink. It comes with a price tag of $195.

Karl Lagerfeld x ModelCo collection will be sold in Karl Lagerfeld stores and via karl.com, as well as ModelCo’s retail network and modelco.com. In the U.S., it will be carried exclusively at Nordstrom. Available from March 14, 2018.
