THE 10 MOST COMMON CAUSES OF ACNE

Acne is a skin disease characterized by skin inflammation and formation of whiteheads, blackheads and pimples. It usually forms on the face, neck, chest, upper back, shoulders and arms. These body parts are susceptible to acne because they have the highest concentration of sebaceous glands. When these glands are stimulated by the hormone testosterone, they start producing excess oil (fat, sebum). Excess oil should be expelled through the pores of the skin, but sometimes, pores can be blocked by hair follicles, dead skin cells and other impurities. These impurities, combined with the excess oil may further clog the pores of the skin and cause acne.

So what initiates the appearance of acne? Here is a list of top 10 things that cause acne. They do not cause acne directly, but they can definitely make them worse. By identifying and eliminating the causes of acne, it will be easier to find the right remedy.

1. Hormones - As previously mentioned, the hormone testosterone stimulates the sebaceous glands to excessively produce sebum. Boys and girls of puberty age are undergoing a dramatic change in hormone levels, and among other things, the enhanced production of testosterone.

2. Diet - While researches show that there is no direct correlation between eating greasy foods and acne, a diet that is high in sugary, fried and processed foods can definitely make acne worse by disrupting the body systems.

3. Stress - Stress can stimulate the body to produce certain hormones and increases levels of harmful toxins in the body that can aggravate acne.

4. Medications - Some medications may contain ingredients such as Bromide, Lithium, Corticosteroids, and etc. that have been proven to cause acne. Do not take medications containing these drugs simultaneously with anti-acne medications.

5. Clothing - Tight-fitting caps, helmets, heavy bag straps and tight shirt collars can put pressure on the skin and cause friction. In addition, clothing made from materials that do not allow the skin to breathe can also cause acne.

6. Bad Skin - Scrubbing, picking, squeezing or any other rough handling of the skin does not clear out acne but causes further inflammation and scarring.

7. Environmental Factors - Pollution, humidity and sun can affect the skin negatively and provoke an acne problem.

8. Genes - Acne can be hereditary. A child whose parents have acne is more likely to also have acne.

9. Makeup - Some Makeup, particularly oil-based cosmetics, can clog pores and make acne worse. But today, there are cosmetics that are also used to treat acne.

10. The Pill - The Pill interferes with the body's hormones. A woman who takes contraceptive pills or stops taking them, can have problems with acne.

Remember that in order to prevent and reduce acne, it’s not enough to use cosmetic products but you also have to change your habits and your life style. Starting today means less acne tomorrow. Good luck!
