The inspiration behind many of Dior creations for 2012 – from haute couture to makeup and perfumes – are glorious dance events known as “grand balls.” Christian Dior, the founder the fashion house Dior was fascinated by the beauty and glam of balls. He wouldn't miss them for anything and he always felt a bit nostalgic about the passing of the Belle Époque.

The collection Grand Bal is an echo of Christian Dior's famous ball gowns and classic silhouettes of his creations that paid homage to sensual curves of a female body. Following the launch of Grand Bal – a floral-woody-musk fragrance for women - and magnificent Dior VIII Grand Bal Drape watches with oscillating weight that swirl across the dial like a sparkling ball gown, the house of Dior now announces four very special makeup collection designed for Christmas 2012.

When I first saw the promo images of the new Grand Bal nail offerings, I thought they were actually perfume bottles. As you can see from the illustrations in this article, the bottles are truly original and obviously inspired by feminine curves and beautiful ball gowns. The new collection brings the eyes and lips palette, four beautiful shades of nail polish, two Five 5 Coleurs eye shadows, two Dior Addict Lip Glosses and two shades of Lipstick, one golden eyeliner, one Gold Diorskin Powder, and two extravagant pairs of false eyelashes.

In the UK, the new Dior Grand Ball Collection, will be available at Selfridges on 19th October and before it becomes available nationwide on 2th November. At this point, I don't have any news about the prices and international availability but, stay tuned for more information!
