USE: "Gently massage body with bar to cleanse and help relax fatigued muscles. This soap is not formulated for use on face." Kiehls.com
As I unwrapped the soap I noticed the tagline "it's a fatigue scrubber" and chuckled to myself at the ridiculous description. However, the moment I used it in the shower I realized that it was actually an incredibly apt description! The bar soap lathers quickly and is chock full of pumice, oat bran and oat kernel meal to exfoliate dry, dead skin. "Wow!" was my first response, "I LOVE this!"
AROMA & TEXTURE: As noted above this is a rough, exfoliating bar where small particles of pumice and oat scrape the skin. As such, this should be avoided if skin is sunburnt, sensitive or irritated. However, once that sunburn has faded and the skin starts to peel, this little gem is indeed the ultimate body scrub soap. The aroma is definitely noticeable and is best described as mentholated citrus. Perfect for anyone who regularly spends time outdoors getting dirty and fantastic on rough, calloused heels and toes.
INGREDIENTS: (via Birchbox.com) Sodium Palmate, Sodium Cocoate, Aqua / Water, Glycerin, Parfum / Fragrance, Pumice, Limonene, Sodium Chloride, Avena Kernel Meal / Oat Kernel Meal, Avena Sativa / Oat Bran, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Pentasodium Pentetate, Linalool, Citral.
PROS & CONS: Wonderful, fresh aroma; large size (7 ozs); non-drying; exfoliating; and locally produced in the USA.
2-3 times the price of major supermarket brands; has a noticeable fragrance; one must like the exfoliating sensation.
Via Birchbox.com: "Didn't like the smell of it and didn't like the way it felt on my skin."
Via Birchbox.com: "This really lasts a long time! Great smell and really exfoliates. Can be a little tough on sensitive parts so be careful!"
