Lierac Lumilogie Review: Not a Miracle, Still Very good

If you are, like me, haunted by those dreadful dark spots that come with age, hormonal imbalancements and sun damage called melasma, you must already know that there are no miraculous creams in the market. Everything that is not a hardcore peeling, but still boasts causing a dramatic change, making them disappear, is a lie. So, it was in a mix of hope and dfisbelief that I agreed to try out Lierac’s latest response to dark spots, Lumilogie.

Lierac’s PR promised me that it wasn’t just marketing: this was a true solution. Well, I decided to give it a go. I have been wearing it for 4 months and now I can tell you what I really thin about this product. 

First of all, let me tell you that Lumilogie is a 2-in-1 product that combines, in just one package, two different formulas, one designed to be worn during the day and the other at night. The day concentrate has active ingredients like Vitamin E and Sea Daffodil Extract, and it primises to help prevent emerging dark spots when used under your regular daily moisturizer and sunscreen. The night concentrate is stronger and ingredients like Hydroxy Acids and Hexyl R, whic aim to stimulate peeling and rejuvenation. Simple, right? But does it work?

My answer is yes and no. Well, the product, day and night is easy to apply and leaves no residue. But let’s assume you have real melasma and not just some freckles. You want it to go away completely, right? Well, let’s not get overexcited. Lumilogie will not remove your dark spots completely if they are big and stubborn. However, in my case, I always see my spots diminish and get lighter in the winter, naturally. This normally happens around January, even when using some kind of treatment. And they never go away for good. The sun comes up in May and hello! Here they are again. In this case, after wearing Lumilogie since the first week of October, I started to see them fade sooner that usual. Around the end of November they were already a little lighter. And they continued to fade until January. So, maybe Lumilogie accelerated the whole process, I have to say. And this is a good thing. But the spots went as light as they always do with or without any whitening product. In conclusion, it is not more effective than most products. But it is fefinitely quicker. A lot quicker. Instead of being, say, 4 months looking almost normal, I now can have 5 or 6. And that’s a good thing. Will I purchase Lumilogie again despite of its not so low price of around 50 euros? Very likely so.
