NARS Sarah Moon Collection for Holiday 2016

Francois Nars, founder of the NARS Cosmetics, has named photographer Sarah Moon as a collaborator on a limited-edition holiday collection. The French fashion photographer, Sarah Moon, is joining her forces with the famous makeup brand to create a strictly limited, 25-piece collection, available from November 2016.

Francois Nars, who is also a make-up artist and photographer, had already collaborated with world-renowned artists such as Steven Klein, Guy Bourdin, and Andy Warhol. This year, the fashion photographer Sarah Moon lends her creative touch to the holiday range. Together with Francois Nars, she designed a collection of delicate, ethereal imagery and products, inspired by her personal vision of modern femininity. The inspiration is sourced from her romantic, often dreamlike photography, in soft-focus black- and-white or pale colors. As a fashion photographer, she collaborated with the most prestigious designer brands such as Dior, Chanel, Comme des Garçons, Issey Miyake and Valentino among others.

Same as all special collaborations, the NARS Sarah Moon collection will showcase a limited edition packaging, which plays on frost and translucency. NARS has also announced a number of new, innovative formulas and shades. Just like Moon’s photographs, the packaging is there to lure the admirer into a realm of unknown beauty, dreams, and fairytales.

 

Clue 6: “Francois had asked me to bring an object that I would like to reproduce, so I brought a very simple transparent square box. For me, the collection was all about transparency as make-up is about skin and makeup that didn’t feel heavy. I thought, if I do something, I want it to be very modern and feel almost as if the woman is transparent.” –Our collaborator

“There is great trust, respect and mutual admiration between us, it made it lovely to work together,” Moon said. “Also, he’s a photographer so he knows how fragile the process is. From the beginning to the end, it was a true collaboration.”

NARS has already teased an image of two new shades of Audacious Lipstick: Cody and Sarah.
