Bumble and bumble was founded as a New York City hair salon in 1977 by hairdresser Michael Gordon. it is now owned by Estée Lauder Companies. The company operates two flagship salons in Manhattan: a midtown location on East 56th Street and on the top two floors of The House of Bumble in the Meatpacking District.
