Nail help! in Beauty and Care

Okay, I've never posted here before so hi!

I wondered if anyone could help me fix my nails!

I've always had really terrible quality nails. I recently decided to hell with it and got false nails. I am now picking up the pieces (literally) after them.

They are breaking, feel as weak as paper, splitting and sore. I cannot wear nail varnish as applying it stings the second it touches my nail. I have tried applying a strengthening varnish from OPI to it. But it isn't working. I also have one nail that still has the gel varnish on it! (Don't ask!!) so I'm desperate to get them into good condition and never let gel near them again.

Is this normal and can anyone suggestion anything?
