A first look at Gucci Cosmetics range

As announced yesterday, Gucci is about to launch its first ever cosmetics range. The Gucci Cosmetics is launching in September 2014, with a full makeup range that includes products for eyes, face, lips, nails and skin preparation products.

The person behind this project is Gucci’s creative director Frida Giannini, who said that the idea first emerged four years ago. In an interview with WWD, Giannini explained how she feels about the upcoming launch: “I feel good, and confident: I’m very satisfied with the final result that we were able to achieve, to perfection….As a woman, of course I tried absolutely every product and color we made.” The range is inspired by the nearly century-old fashion house’s archives and mood boards, along with the photos of style icons such as Lauren Hutton, Jerry Hall, Jane Birkin and Veruschka. It features high-tech, high-performance products with prices ranging from $29 for a nail lacquer to $65 for an eye shadow quad. The products from the skin preparation line will be priced between $49 and $69. Gucci Cosmetics will be delivered in black and gold cases decorated with the interlocking GG logo. The external packaging is made of 100% recycled paper, while the luxurious compacts have a magnetic closure. The range will be available at gucci.com, at key Gucci flagships and top department stores in the world’s most renowned luxury capitals.
