Algenist extends into firming and lifting products
Algenist is a scientifically-based cosmetic brand developed in a biotechnology laboratory and founded in 2003 in San Francisco, California. Their major discovery is Alguronic Acid, obtained from algae. This compound, now widely used in skin-care products, demonstrates superior anti-aging properties and increases cell regeneration by up to 55%.
After the successful launch of Gentle Rejuvenating Cleanser ($25), Targeted Age Correcting Serum ($79), Regenerative Anti-Aging Lotion ($75), and Overnight Restorative Serum ($90), the brand has just announced a major expansion into firming and lifting products.
The new products that will hit the shelves in January are:
- Firming & Lifting Cream at $94 for 2 oz.,
- Firming & Lifting Eye Gel at $68 for 0.5 oz., and
- Firming & Lifting Intensive Mask at $52 for 2.7 oz.
Health Sciences general manager Frederic Stoeckel speaks about the collection: “With firming and lifting, it is less about wrinkles and the reduction of wrinkles, it is more about skin texture. It’s a different consumer, actually. It’s a different need.”
Algenist is available at more than 1,000 doors in the U.S. and Europe, plans to enter Asia by the end of 2012. You can purchase their products from the official website, QVC, Space NK in the U.K., and Sephora in the United States. source:WWD
