bareMinerals bareSkin Liquid Foundation

Almost 20 years ago, Bare Escentuals launched its mineral makeup line, bareMinerals, to help women make positive difference in their lives. 

bareMinerals is the Bare Escentuals’ cosmetics line consisting of mineral powder products. The line is described as a mineral makeup revolution, a problem-solving cosmetics that perfects and pampers the skin, which not only makes you look good, but also is good for your skin… In other words, bareMinerals offered a healthy alternative for liquid foundation, which was, at least at that time, considered bad for the skin.

In 2014, the brand is making another radical shift with its new bareSkin liquid foundation. The product, which will be launched next Thursday, is announced as a typical bareMineral product, but with a serum consistency with half of the ingredients of a traditional liquid foundation. bareSkin foundation also has no oil, no silicone, no fragrance and no water. Instead, this revolutionary liquid foundation contains the first mineral sunscreen, SPF 20, to be used in a liquid foundation formula.

In an interview with WWD, Leslie Blodgett, the creator and executive chairman of the brand, explains: “BareMinerals is launching a foundation in the serum form that is very different from other liquids on the market. If you need to use liquid and won’t use anything else, we finally have a solution for you… We still want people off liquid foundation. We are against liquid foundation. This isn’t a liquid foundation, just like our original bareMinerals was not a powder. We had to explain for years that it was crushed minerals and not a powder. This is a serum, and it has got half of the ingredients of a traditional liquid foundation. We felt that every woman deserves to have a foundation, whether it is in the serum form or powder form, that has the fewest possible ingredients that allows them to have the look and the health benefits that they want.”

bareMinerals bareSkin Liquid Foundation will be available in 20 different shades and priced at $29. The product will roll out shortly at bareMinerals stores, Ulta, Macy’s, Dillard’s, Sephora and Sephora inside J.C. Penney.
