Bourjois Air Mat Foundation Product Review

Published: 2015-12-15 by Marina Milojević in Reviews

I've recently been using and loving the new Bourjois Air Mat Foundation, which is an ideal all-purpose foundation for oily and combination skin.  What makes this mattifying foundation quite unique is that it provides a high coverage in combination with a totally undetectable finish! The formula is specifically developed to give a smooth, shine-free finish, but without drying out your skin! It actually allows your skin to breathe, so it never feels heavy.

At first, I was extremely skeptical about this product, but after reading a couple of good reviews I decided to give it a try, and it didn't take much for it to become a staple in my makeup routine. I’ve been using this product for five weeks, and I’m truly impressed with its performance on my skin - I have combination skin, with rather dry cheeks and oily T-zone, which can be very tricky to manage. Usually I’m not much fond of matte foundations, because they tend to feel quite heavy and produce a dull, flat-matte finish… But, this foundation is something completely different…

What I really like about this product is that it feels so comfortable on the skin, while being dense enough to conceal literally all imperfections. Once applied, it creates a super-fine and even, natural-looking finish, that looks both flawless and natural for hours. Normally, I would have to do touch ups every couple of hours, or so, or to blot off any excess shine, but not with Bourjois Air Mat Foundation. This product keeps my skin looking great, perfectly even, completely natural, and extremely comfortable for hours. It claims no less than 24-hour hold, but I never had a chance to wear it that long. Typically, I put my makeup late afternoon, and take it off past midnight…

The shade I'm using is 02 Vanilla, a nuance that goes well with my fair skin with neutral undertone, but I swatched 6 different shades for you. From left to right, these are: 02 Vanilla, 03 Beige Clair, 04 Beige, 05 Beige Dore, 06 Hale Clair, 07 Hale Fonce.

Bourjois Air Mat Foundation Before

As you can see, the Bourjois Air Mat Foundation doesn’t create any bad powdery looking finish, it conceals imperfections, instead of sticking to them and making them even more obvious. The Air Mat foundation will give you a really nice undetectable coverage, but it does require some serious blending. I usually apply it with fingers, but you could also use a brush, or, even better, a beauty sponge, which is specifically designed for blending large areas of the face. I normally use it over my daily cream, which is either Eucerin Hyaluron-Filler Day Cream, or Eucerin Antiredness Concealing Day Care SPF 25, on those days when my skin feels a little bit more sensitive. What I really like about it is that it effectively covers any red areas and any imperfections that I have. It applies smoothly and dries on the skin to leave a soft, velvety touch. However, even though it stays put for many hours, it is not completely transfer proof... I also wouldn't recommend applying more thatn one layer, since it dries to powdery finish. If you do so, you may only emphasize dry pathces and blemishes...

Bourjois Air Mat Foundation After

This is what it looks like in combination with the rest of my makeup. As you can see, I’m not wearing too much products – it’s only Bourjois Air Mat FoundationArtDeco Eyeshadow Base and High Precision Liquid Liner, a little bit of shimmer on my eyelids comes from the Collistar Twist® Ultra-Shiny Eye Shadow, while the lips are coated in Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick in #11 So Hap'pink. The pic on the right has a little bit of surface blur, but still you can see that my skin looks flawless even 6 hours past application, and that Air Mat holds even in those areas where other foundations usually wear off... As always, I use just a little bit of Orchid Gel on my nose.
