Chanel Le Libre Maximalisme de Chanel Makeup Collection for Holiday 2018

Ahead of the Holiday 2018 season, Chanel reveals its annual Christmas collection, which is, this year, inspired by one of the lesser-known symbols of the brand – the Lion. The collectible new range is expertly curated by Lucia Pica, Chanel’s global creative make-up and color director, who dug deep down into the historical roots of the brand to create this charming new capsule.

As Pica explains: "By pinpointing and intensely researching a classic symbol of the house, I'm able to invest those existing images and ideas with new energy and spirit."

The Collection Libre 2018 Maximalisme de Chanel includes new intense matte lipstick, Rouge Allure Velvet, which debuts in the iconic red shade borrowing the name and the insignia of Chanel’s legendary fragrance - N°5. The shade is the exact one as Gabrielle Chanel would choose for herself, and it arrives in a matching red and gold case.

“The woman who wears Maximalisme de Chanel doesn’t hide, she loves being looked at,” Pica says. “She treats make-up almost like she would an accessory – an adornment that brings subtle drama to the mix without necessarily drawing attention to itself. She chooses between products to create striking oppositions.”

Born a Leo on the 19th of August, 1883, Gabrielle Chanel adopted the image of the lion as her talisman. The lion symbol was also featured in her designs, and all her life she kept a lion statue next to her cigarettes and scissors.

In 2012, the house of Chanel launched the first jewelry collection “Sous Le Signe Du Lion,” inspired by the iconic fierce feline symbol. Last year we saw Sous Le Signe Du Lion Illuminating Powders, and this year, the king of the jungle returns in the gold-toned leonine face palette and an expertly curated selection of eyeshadows.

Le Lion de Chanel Face Powder is a limited edition highlighter embossed with the lion insignia. This light golden hue is infused with delicate pearls to give the complexion a holiday-ready galvanized glow.

L’Ombre Premiere Poudre Eyeshadow arrives in four limited edition shades ringing form a soft copper called Cuirve Lamé  to rich black Noir Lamé, Electrum Lamé, and a sophisticated khaki green called Vert Lamé.

The collection also includes La Palette Caractère, a lip palette featuring five exclusive red-tuned shades, including the brand new Rouge Allure Velvet N°5.

Chanel Le Vernis appears in two shades, Opulence et Flamboyance, same as the Rouge Coco Gloss. One Ombre Première Crème and one Crayon Khôl complete the collection.

Chanel Le Libre Maximalisme de Chanel collection will be available from November 2, 2018, with Lily-Rose Depp as the face of the campaign.
