Chanel Les Intemporels de Chanel Collection

The year 2015 marks the 60th anniversary of Gabrielle Chanel’s iconic 2.55 bag, a luxury leather handbag, which was named after the date of its creation, February 1955. To mark the occasion, the house of Chanel unveils a small capsule collection inspired by the leather-braided chain of the original bag.

Before 1920’s, women typically carried handbags in their arms, but Coco Chanel was so tired of it that she decided to create a completely different type of a purse, one that will free up her hands. Coco was decided to add straps to her handbags, similar to those found on soldiers’ bags, and unveiled her invention to the world in 1929. Much later, in 1955, she released an updated version of her handbag with quilted diamond and a double-chain shoulder strap. Chanel released an exact replica of the original 2.55 bag in February 2005, to commemorate its 50th anniversary, while this year brings a limited edition makeup range - the Chanel Les Intemporels de Chanel Collection.

Chanel Les Intemporels de Chanel Collection (translates as Timeless by Chanel) comprises two limited edition products: the Chanel L 'Intemporel De Chanel eye palette, and a special limited edition shade of Chanel Le Vernis, named Intemporel. Both products are available for purchase at Chanel.com.

Chanel L’Intemporel de Chanel Eyeshadow Palette features a harmony of five vibrant and luminous eyeshadows, with a surface elegantly embossed like the leather-braided chain of the 2.55 bags. The shades go from highlighting silver-white and gold, over brilliant green and plum, all the way to a deep black shade that doubles as a liner. The L’Intemporel de Chanel Eyeshadow Palette is priced at $80.00.

Chanel Le Vernis in Intemporel is a shimmering shade of silver, which is said to be inspired by the reflections cast from the metal chain of the iconic 2.55 bag. This limited edition polish is priced at $27.00.
