Episencial is a skin care brand founded by Kim Walls, M.S. - a second-generation skin care expert from the Epicuren family. I got a chance recently to test one of their sunscreens and was impressed with its efficacy and unique all-natural formula.
This all-natural baby skin care line was designed by Kim Walls after she had her first baby. At that time, she couldn’t find a skin care product that met her professional standards for quality - so, she decided to make her own formula! That’s how a high-quality skincare range that is at the same time affordable, suitable for children, based on all-natural ingredients and free from all unhealthy chemicals, is born. Is there a more worthy cause than this? Perhaps not.
The product that was sent to me for review was Episencial Sunny Sunscreen SPF35, which is formulated for the most delicate skin of babies and kids, but equally suitable for all ages. The Episencial’s Sunny Sunscreen SPF 35 is water resistant for up to 80 minutes, organic, all-natural and completely free from all of the hazardous ingredients commonly found in skin-care products: phthalates, parabens, fragrances…
When applied to the skin, Sunny Sunscreen SPF35 leaves a nice cooling sensation and almost instantly absorbs. The sunscreen is unscented and it doesn’t leave any greasy residue. It is rather light, deeply moisturizing and fully transparent. Like any effective suntan lotion, Episencial’s Sunny Sunscreen SPF offers broad spectrum protection from both UVA and UVB rays, but it will work only if you apply it liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure, immediately after towel drying or at least every 2 hours.
Sunny Sunscreen SPF 35 is available as 2.7oz and 4.0oz, priced at $12.99 and $15.00, respectfully. If you wish to test Episencial products, the brand offers free samples, which you can order from their website. You’ll only have to pay $2.99 for the shipping, but you’ll receive a $5 coupon to offset shipping charges, in return.

I’ll use this opportunity to remind you about new FDA regulations for over-the-counter sunscreens, which started to apply from June 2012. To learn more about them, please check one of our recent articles.
