First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads. Good But Not Great
By Miguel Matos
Lately I have decided to invest a little more of my time and money taking care of my skin. After all I am almost turning 40 and I have to preserve my skin before it's too late. I am not getting any younger and skin starts to show that. One thing that I was never very much into was exfoliating. I know that it is important but all the exfoliating creams that I buy eventually are left forgotten almost full.

I was also never keen into chemical exfloliators, always going for the mechanical ones. Until recently, when a friend of mine told me that I should try and use glycolic acid and she recommended me the Facial Radiance Pads from First Aid Beauty. Having a dull complexion and dark spots associated with visible pores, I decided to give it a go and ordered a full box of 28 pads from the brand's website. They are not expensive at all since they cost only 15 euros for a box that is supposed to last one month is you use it every day. I have a tough skin so I decided to use them everyday. First of all, they are alcohol-free, which is great and so they will not dry your skin and I can even use them after shaving for they will not make my skin burn.
"Pads contain just the right amount of lactic and glycolic acids to make them safe and effective for daily use. Cucumber and Indian gooseberry tone the skin, while lemon peel and licorice root leave the skin bright and glowing. FAB’s facial radiance pads are free of parabens, harsh chemicals and colorants." - First Aid Beauty

After using my box, I am prepared to draw some conclusions. First of all, I think it would be a bit cheaper to use a bottle of tonic to be applied with cotton to the skin. I think there is some waste in the pads. They come drenched in product and at the end of every pad I think I could still use it again (better not). Each pad can serve 2 faces! Beyond that, they are pleasant to use and they are not scented, which I appreciate. The final results on my skin are a bit subtle. Yes, I see my pores reduced and the skin looks better, smoother and brightened. The product promises to "Exfoliate, Tone and Brighten". Maybe this is true, but it also promises to reduce fine lines, which I sadly did not see happening.
After this experience I think I will continue with glycolic acid and see if it causes any more improvements. I may also pause a bit between applications, since I noticed that my skin can be a little stressed by the daily use, especially if I am travelling. And we all know how the air inside an airplane can be harmful to the skin, the air conditioning of the airports, ect... So yes, everyday during the weekly routine. Pause when travelling. I may also invest in another kind of product like a liquid toner with glycolic acid since I suspect it may be more economical. But I still think I would like to try something stronger in order to see more dramatic results. Or am I asking for too much?

I agree that it is not as cheap as it seems and that a liquid acid tonic will be cheaper. I also use them and I feel my skin softer and less dry, as I have dry skin. Regarding fine lines and wrinkles I am still waiting for an efficient product...
