Hourglass Cosmetics Fall 2011

The new Hourglass collection is just unveiled and it is about to hit the counters by the end of next week. The line was introduced a couple of months ago by Hourglass Cosmetics Beauty Director Michael Pierce, who talked about the inspiration behind the new collection and products used to create the beauty looks for Adrienne Vittadini Fall 2011 fashion show in New York City, during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. He described the makeup for fall as very soft, with big emphasis on eyes and lashes.

Therefore, the central product of this new line is Film Noir Lash Laquer, an ultra-glossy very light top coat for lashes. It delivers the same effect to lashes as a lip-gloss would make to lips: it elongates the lashes, makes them darker and shiny. It also contains vitamin E, to keep the lashes soft and supple, and protect them from environmental effects. This product will be available exclusively at Sephora, priced at $28.

The Hourglass Artistic Director Gina Brooke recommends to apply Lash Lacquer on the lashes that are already coated with Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara. Paint the lashes with the brush in short strokes. If you want to create natural look focus on the tips of the outer corners. To create the illusion of a thicker lash line, focus on the upper perimeter of the inner eye. To get more intense look, apply this product from base to the tips, in two layers.

Another great product for fall is the Vol. 6 Eye Palette, which will be available from August at Barneys New York, priced at $58. The palette comes in a 360º swivel compact for no-fuss application, fitted with a dual-ended applicator. The Neo-Classic palette is truly beautiful and features 5 matte and 1 shimmering shade. These colors blend easily, they are rich in texture and color, and promise crease-resistant long wear.
