Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara

The house of Lancôme is gearing up for yet another interesting launch. This time, the famous Parisian brand adds to its mascara portfolio with a brand new Big Volume Mascara.

Aptly named Monsieur Big, Lancôme’s new volumizing mascara certainly evokes some memories of the HBO series Sex and the City, and Carrie Bradshaw’s off-and-on romantic partner John James "Mr. Big" Preston. Even the blurb accompanying the launch definitely sounds like it’s borrowed from Carrie Bradshaw's weekly column: “You’ll know Monsieur Big Mascara is the one at the first stroke,” or “A BIG volume mascara that delivers instant heart-stopping volume.” Does this sound to you like a good marketing strategy? I'm not so sure about that. But let’s find out what kind of wonders Monsieur Big promises to deliver.

Apparently, the mascara combines an oversized (Big) brush and ultra-creamy, silky formula to deliver up to 12x more volume in a single coat. It also promises up to 24-hour wear with no touch-ups, flaking, or smudging. The uniquely shaped brush is made from soft, wavy fibers designed to deliver the right amount of the formula at the very first stroke. The formula, again, combines soft waxes and polymers to adhere to lashes for buildable volume and length.

I’m not really sure what Lancôme tried to do with this before/after promo, but what really strikes is the amount of clumps pictured on the right. Here is a better look at it:

Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara is coming soon at Ulta and Lancome.com. The product is available in a universally flattering shade of black, and it retails for $25.00.
