L'Oréal Paris introduces botanical hair color line Botanea
The history of the renowned French cosmetics company L'Oréal can be traced back to 1909, when a young French chemist, Eugène Paul Louis Schueller, developed a hair dye formula called Auréale. Schueller manufactured his own product, which he then sold to Parisian hairdressers until, in July 1919, he registered the company, which eventually became L'Oréal.

Almost a century later, in 2018, the house of L’Oréal is revisiting its rich heritage and going vegan with its new botanical hair color for salon use. The upcoming line of 100% plant-based formulas, which are simpler and healthier than chemical alternatives, is due out in Europe from May 2018. According to Loreal’s representatives, this milestone collection is not only 100% natural, but also formulated to give a natural yet professional result.

L’Oreal Botanea collection debuts with three hair-dying powders formulated with botanical ingredients sourced from India: cassia, henna and indigo. The powders, suspended in coconut oil, can be combined together in various concentrations depending on the desired hue. In salons, hairdressers will mix the powders, using a precisely determined water temperature, to get any of the shades from a vast palette ranging from light blonde to dark brown. Even better, the formula guarantees perfect white hair coverage, where other natural hair dyes typically offer anywhere from 30-40% coverage.

L’Oreal Botanea hair dyes will be priced from 30 euros to 80 euros in Europe. The line will be introduced through the brand’s salon distribution.

In addition, L’Oréal Professionnel will launch its first professional, natural, vegan hair-care line called Source Essentielle. The range comprises two lines, one for dry and another for colored hair. Each of the lines consists of a shampoo, balm and oil, priced from 19.50 euros to 32 euros. The Source Essentielle collection will, that is refillable in salons, will be carried in L’Oréal Professionnel’s full distribution in Europe.
