MAC Cosmetics releasing Guo Pei Makeup Collection

As announced approximately four months ago, MAC Cosmetics has joined its forces with China’s most famous fashion designer, Guo Pei, to create a special 16-piece makeup collection inspired by Oriental culture. At the time when the collection was first announced, in June 2015, Guo Pei said that it was inspired by the colors of the universe, as envisioned in the culture of the Orient. For Guo, blue is a color of the soul, and also a color that gives her a sense of power, so she chose to create azure blue eyeshadow and eyeliner. The shades for the lips are pink and coral, because they are evocative of happiness. The products are delivered in a collectible limited edition gold-color packaging with Oriental flower motifs. The design was borrowed from her latest haute couture collection, which is, in turn, inspired by the traditional Chinese saying: “There is a kingdom in a flower; a wisdom in a leaf.”

Mac Guo Pei Eye Shadow Quad is available in two color harmonies – Night Sky and Morning Light. Each of them combines for beautifully coordinated shades, evocative of an imaginary dome where the air scatters sunlight. The palettes are priced at 73,50€ each.

Mac Guo Pei Lipstick is available in three shades, ranging from nude to bright red. The gold-colored lipstick bullet is paired with a vivid floral cap. Each of the shades retails for 38,50€.

Mac Guo Pei Cremesheen Glass is available in three shades, each complementing one of the lipsticks. The lip glosses can be worn on their own, or layered over the lipstick, for an instant change in texture. The glosses retail at 36,50€.

MAC Guo Pei Beauty Powder is available in a shade named Moonlight. This subtle, translucent powder creates an ultra-fine, shimmering veil over the skin. The powder retails at 66€.
