MAC x Chromat Makeup Collection

In January 2017, MAC Cosmetics have announced a special collaboration with CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. As a part of their exciting new project, five womenswear designers, all CVFF finalists, have developed a proposal for a six-piece makeup collection that captures the essence of their brand identity and artistic vision. A panel of judges examined each of the proposals and chose one capsule collection they think could be appealing to a wider audience, and made to fit into a makeup bag.

Today, six months later, the collaborators have revealed the winner: Chromat, the Brooklyn-based studio led by Becca McCharen-Tran!

The creator of the future-forward bodywear is getting her own makeup collection this summer! With a degree in architecture and an eye for structure, McCharen-Tran creates architectural swim-, athletic wear, and lingerie designed for strong, powerful women: “Each Chromat collection explores the intersection of architecture, fashion and technology, producing garments that augment and enhance the body’s performance through innovative design and cutting-edge technical fabrics.” So far, she has experimented with LED lights, adrenaline-sensitive fabrics, and even 3D printed accessories.

MAC x Chromat makeup collection explores various nuances of blue as it perfectly encapsulates the essence of the brand. It focuses on eyes, a strong gaze, and direct eye contact. Complementing the eye products are two amazing new lipsticks – a fiery red, and a cyan blue.
