Nail Art Trends For Spring/Summer 2012

Published: 2011-10-11 by Ines Markovic in Nails

The greatest fashion metropolis of the world - New York, London, Milan and Paris have once again done a great job with hosting the Fashion Week. Besides fashion designers and makeup artists who introduced the upcoming trends in fashion and makeup, the indispensable part of the event were also the creative nail artists whose inspirational designs have introduced the newest nail trends. So let's see how our nails are going to look like in Spring/Summer 2012.

Nail Art Trends For Spring/Summer 2012

1. GEOMETRICAL PATTERNS

The nails of the Gareth Pugh models were adorned by uneven, horizontal, black & white Minx stripes, while Nicole Miller's models has their nails painted in multicolored checkerboards. Essie has done vertical pink stripes on a white nail lacquer for Rebecca Minkoff and Ruffiano's playful jockey stripes on his creations were completed with the diagonal stripes on the nails.

2. WHITE NAIL POLISH

Most of the designers have completed their spring/summer collections with bright nail lacquer shades on short nails. The hues varied from classic red to unusual mustard-yellow and were in harmony with the dominant color of the collection, lipstick color or eyeshadow. Farah Angsana had a similar idea - she completed the mainly white tones of the creations with a completely white nail polish. Odillon also had an interesting creation: white nail polish combined with clear, nude half-moon right at the root of the nail.

3. NUDE SHADES

Dozens of models, including ones from Lanvin, Hermes, Yves Saint Laurent and Gucci had transparent, ballerina pink shades and nude hues on their nails with just a hint of shiny topcoat.

4. CONTRASTS ON THE NAIL TIPS

The popular half-moon manicure went one step further and developed new trends: a shade on the nail tip in complete contrast with the base hue. A luxurious red-gold combination was created for the new Norman Ambrose collection, while The Blonds show featured over twenty different two-coloured sets adorned with tiny details.

5. OMBRE NAILS

The ombre trend which began in hairdressing salons has moved to nails. The best example of this cross-over was created in the Jenny Kao backstage, where an indigo blue shade was seen in combination with black.

6. CREATIVE TEXTURES

The trend of the textures also continues. CND nail artists have designed a lace texture on the nails for Joanne Mastroianni show, and by Joy Cioci the mesh print was combined with transparent nail tips. Creative Minx patters which have been seen on dozens of shows are just a confirmation of this trend.

Although it's only fall, it's never to early to prepare yourself for the next season. Now you just have to decide which nail art trend you like the most and start experimenting with the nail designs. Good luck and if you have any questions, Beauty Almanac is here to help!
