NARS Kabuki Brushes

NARS Cosmetics is launching three new brushes, which are specifically designed to complement the brand’s existing Kabuki Brush Collection. The new Mie Kabuki Bursh, Mizubake Kabuki Brush and Kudoki Kabuki Brush are inspired by the elaborate make-up of a classical Japanese dance-drama, and designed to offer detailed, flawless makeup application.

NARS Kabuki Brushes belong to the subtype of makeup brushes that are distinguished by their short handles and dense bristles. The brush is named after the Kabuki Japanese drama theater, where performers wear a heavy makeup, named Kesho, which emphasizes their emotions, reactions and characters. The classic Japanese kabuki brush is designed to help apply the white rice powder all over the face, while its contemporary variants serve to apply lose powdered make-up of any sort. In the same manner, the brushes are traditionally made of natural fibers, such as goat hair, while contemporary beauty brand produce kabuki brushes with synthetic fibers.
