Plant Apothecary Body Washes

SUMMARY: Plant Apothecary's organic GET IT ON bodywash offers a low-sudsing, all-natural soap alternative made with a range of natural ingredients and aromatherapeutic oils.

ABOUT THE BRAND: Brooklyn, New York is quickly becoming a mecca for independent beauty and grooming brands. But not all brands are created equal. Meet Holly McWhorter and Bjarke Ballisager, a husband-and-wife team with backgrounds in architecture, journalism and music. In 2012 they started PLANT Apothecary when they saw an opportunity to promote healthy ingredients, environmental Founders of Plant Apothecaryfriendliness and social responsibility by way of distinctive, design-forward package design. Starting with PLANT’s organic bodywashes, the line has since grown to include moisturizers, masks and more.

But what makes PLANT so unique?

They are based in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and work in partnership with a nonprofit workshop for adults with mental and physical disabilities called BKLYN UNLTD, for various production and distribution projects.

PLANT's unisex, USDA Organic beauty, grooming and bath products contain NO petroleum, parabens, PABA, sodium lauryl sulfate, silicones or any other synthetic nasties–so you can lather up, moisturize, purify, de-stress, exfoliate and be well without worry! All of their formulas are new twists on effective, time-honored traditional skincare and health remedies from all over the world (think sea buckthorn, rice bran, pumpkin seed oil and more), and they all follow the principles of classical aromatherapy and herbalism to offer you some of the best plant-based apothecary products available today.

In just a few short years their products have reached cult status and can now be purchased at  Amazon and Target!

I recently sampled their GET IT ON Organic Bodywash and greatly enjoyed the product.

USE: "Our GET IT ON Organic Bodywash has organic essential oils of aphrodisiac sandalwood, ginger and cedar, for a sensual shower or bubble bath when it’s time to… well, get it on! The all-natural, honeylike gel is made of only nine simple ingredients, and is completely free of parabens, SLS, petroleum, silicones and harsh, mysterious chemicals. And its gentle, low-sudsing formula is gentle on even sensitive skin," Plant Apothecary. GET IT ON bodywash is gentle enough for every day use and leaves skin highly moisturized.

AROMA & TEXTURE: Undoubtedly the aroma of GET IT ON is one of its selling points. Made with natural essences of rosemary, sandalwood, ginger and cedarwood. The texture is a silky soft gel that sometimes appears cloudy at cold temperatures, a perfectly natural occurrence due to the high quality natural oils (coconut, jojoba, olive oil and vegetable). Due to the lack of traditional chemicals used in soaps and shower products, GET IT ON offers low suds.

INGEDIENTS: Potassium Cocoate (Coconut Oil Soap),* Potassium Olivate (Olive Oil Soap),* Potassium Jojobate (Jojoba Oil Soap),* Glycerine (vegetable), Cy- amopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum,* Aloe Barbadensis Leaf,* Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Amyris Balsamifera (West Indian Sandalwood) Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Oil,* Cedrus Atlantica (Cedarwood) Oil.* *Certified USDA Organic

PACKAGING: Simple packaging that resembles the traditional Elmer's Glue bottle allows control over how much product is dispensed.

WHERE CAN I BUY IT? $17.99 USD for 9.5ozs at Target.com

PROS AND CONS: A great, soap-free, natural product (no sodium laureth sulfate!) that contains no petroleum, parabens, PABA, sodium lauryl sulfate, silicones or any other synthetic ingredients. GET IT ON and PLANT's other products proudly display PETA's cruelty-free beauty trademark. The brand works with special needs adults for its various projects. Its aroma is sure to please discerning customers.

The price is higher than most body washes, but then again, similar products are chock full of synthetic, chemical ingredients that can dry and irritate skin.
