Pull off higghly sought red carpet looks effortlessly! In tribute to 2011 SAG Awards, famed celebrity stylist René Fris reveals insider tips to achieve these enchanting nominees' styles:

NATALIE PORTMAN (Black Swan)

Best Actress winner Natalie Portman’s retro up-do evoked Forties glam – an ideal choice for the beautiful starlet. This style was perfect for Natalie, who embodies classic beauty. For this look, use a paddle brush to sweep hair into a deep side-part. Secure hair into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck. Twist the loose hair into a tight cylinder and back up into the base of the ponytail so that it forms a figure 8. Hold the knot in place with bobby pins.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE (Writer’s Bone)

Up-and-comer Jennifer Lawrence rocked the red carpet with bold color and a sophisticated hairstyle.  This clean up-do perfectly offsets Jennifer’s stunning dress choice. René suggests starting off with a smoothing serum while hair is still damp for an overall lustrous look. Try René Fris Shine Serum.  Blow dry hair roughly, not completely pulling it straight.  Secure dry hair into a ponytail at the back of the head. Form hair into a thick bun at the base of the ponytail. Apply hair spray to lock the look.

AMY ADAMS (The Fighter)

The lovely Amy Adams went for an edgy modern look with dark eye makeup and a high ponytail. This polished style is chic yet versatile. Begin by applying a smoothing serum to wet hair; frizz-free hair is essential for this look. Blow dry hair with a round brush and follow up with a flat iron, for a perfectly straight look.  Secure hair with an elastic into a tight ponytail at the back of the head. Follow the cheekbone up to determine a good level for the base of the ponytail. Spray with hairspray for an extra sleek finish.

SOFIA VERGARA (Modern Family)

With her hair down in soft and sultry waves, funny gal Sofia Vergara epitomizes glamour. Her look is simple but the results are head-turning. René suggests using a thickening product to add volume. Apply product and blow dry hair with a paddle brush. Use a 2” thick curling iron to create loose waves and texture. Don’t be afraid to use hands to style waves, creating a messy yet feminine feel.
