Shiseido bareMinerals® MADE-2-FIT App

Shiseido Americas Corporation, a direct subsidiary of Shiseido Company, presents a new iPhone beauty app for its bareMinerals® brand called MADE-2-FIT. The app enables you to choose and order custom-blended foundation, using the Shiseido's recent purchase of MATCHCo, a personalization technology that merges IT and beauty industry. BareMinerals is only the first brand to use this technology, but we can also expect more from Shiseido Group in the future.

"It’s the right fit for BareMinerals for a number of reasons, and it was the obvious brand for us to start with," Marc Rey, president and chief executive officer of Shiseido Americas, told wwd. "A full 30 percent of American women use the brand. As the leader in complexion and foundation, it was logical that we put the technology on BareMinerals. Additionally, BareMinerals has always been a conversation brand, a brand that wants to have a lot of intimacy with its consumer and there is nothing more intimate than personalizing a product for one person."

Each bareMinerals® MADE-2-FIT Fresh Faced Foundation is tailored to the skin tone of the person who order it. The Customized by MATCHCo technology, created for iPhone® and available on App Store, is used to precisely tailor makeup to each user, and have it blended and delivered. The App enables skin-tone analysis via a set of user scans (six simple scans), with the help of a virtual makeup artist with voice guidance. Through a series of steps, the app captures scans of your skin to transmit to MatchCo and to formulate your unique shade and deliver it to your doorstep.

MADE-2-FIT Fresh Faced Foundation is said to be perfect for all skin types and provides a naturally radiant finish. The weightless formula contains nourishing and antioxidant ingredients including green tea extract, Vitamin E and peptides as well as ceramide, chamomile and white lily flower.

Jill Scalamandre, president of the Shiseido Global Makeup Center of Excellence, told wwd: "This development marks a sea change in makeup selection, purchase and consumption."

The foundation retails for $49 for a 30 ml bottle. It can be received in just a few days in a bottle with your name and the date it was created. The foundations are made within 24 hours of receiving the order and a typical bottle lasts for two to three months.

BareMinerals Made-2-Fit app is now available for free download for Apple iPhones.
