Yves Saint Laurent Beauty has unveiled its Fusion Ink Foundation, a new makeup product designed to create a comfortable and light, but perfectly-looking finish that lasts for no less than 24 hours.
YSL Fusion Ink Foundation is said to be inspired by the art of calligraphy and the structure of ink. It blends various sensorial and volatile oils, such as hydrating and plumping Tamany oil, which evaporate on contact with the skin, leaving fine, pigmented, matte finish. The oil, sourced from the nut kernel of an Asian tree also promotes cell turnover, and helps to heal skin and scar tissue.
The formula is based on hydrating ingredients, ensuring that the skin will stay nicely moisturized and soft regardless of long wearing coverage that resists both heat and humidity. YSL Fusion Ink Foundation is said to deliver an exceptional level of flawless coverage that has a power to endure for 24 night, without ever losing any of its remarkable comfort and lightness of texture. We haven’t tried it yet, but if what YSL claims is true – this could be the most perfect foundation for summer! In addition, it provides full, buildable coverage that easily conceals all imperfections and blemishes, while remaining incredibly light.
In words of Lloyd Simmonds, creative director of make-up at YSL: “The aim was to create a weightless formula with an invisible, long-lasting coverage and that’s what we have.”

The formula of YSL Fusion Ink Foundation is built on lipophilic active, which is a cutting-edge ingredient that was first used to capture dust particles in outer space. Thanks to its honeycomb surface texture, the liphophilic active can capture and hold up to four times its weight in sebum, which helps control shine. Hydrophilic agent is a moisturizing ingredient, which is described as a clay-like active. Finally, there is a beautyleaf Extract, which nourishes the skin and creates radiance. Consumer trials have shown that 95% of women testified their skin was comfortable all day, and 93% approved that YSL Fusion Ink Foundation perfectly adjusted to their skin tone.
YSL Fusion Ink Foundation is available in 16 shades, which are spread into three major groups:
- Beige: B 10, B 20, B 30, B 40, B 50, B 60
- Rosy Beige: BR 20, BR 30, BR 40, BR 50
- Beige doré: BD 10, BD 20, BD 40, BD 50, BD 55, BD 65

YSL Fusion Ink Foundation is launching exclusively at Debenhams from August 10, and worldwide from August 20, 2014. The product is priced at £30.50, and over 12,000 consumers have already signed a waiting list. The product is available also at YSL website, where it retails at $60. Cara Delevingne is the face of the promotional campaign.
