YSL Northern Lights Collection for Holiday 2012

YSL prepares to launch a very special Holiday themed collection, designed for 2012. The collection is named Northern Lights and it brings some truly dazzling colors in specially designed sequin cases.

The refined shimmering sequins, in a perfect silvery shade, embellish the cases of YSL makeup palettes, capturing the light and refracting it in unpredictable ways. The Northern Lights Collection is inspired by the captivating beauty of Aurora borealis, a natural phenomenon caused by collision of energetic charged particles and atoms. The color of the aurora depends on which atoms collide with the charged electrons: if the oxygen is struck, the mist will appear greenish or red, but nitrogen atoms result is gorgeous blue or purple/violet hue. The phenomenon is visible in the high latitude regions, Arctic and Antarctic, where the solar winds cuddle with earth's magnetic field. It most commonly appears as a mysterious green glow, that sometimes even melts into vibrant fiery red, lingering on the sky for anywhere between just a couple of seconds and endless hours.

So, what's this collection all about? In the words of Lloyd Simmonds, Creative Makeup Director of YSL Beaute, the Northern Lights Collection is inspired by his childhood memories of Aurora borealis and it brings vivid an bright colors, laced with violet and midnight-blue hues. Everything is dotted with subtle pearl highlights, to evoke the beauty of a starry night.

YSL Northern Lights Collection for Holiday 2012 arrives on the market on 14 October 2012 at Sephora, Douglas, Mariounnaud. There are some old and some new shades, of which many are issued in a limited edition.
