Shiseido Eye Momentum Collection for Fall 2017
Published: 2017-07-07 by Marina MilojevićThe house of Shiseido is gearing up to launch a collection of makeup products designed for Fall Winter 2017. Inspired by Japanese artist crafts and traditional painting techniques, these products have already made their debut earlier this year, backstage at New York Fashion Week. Dick Page, Artistic Director for Shiseido Makeup, has decided to make eye makeup the focal point of this season’s look.
Drawing inspiration from Japanese calligraphy and ink wash painting, Page envisioned the IInkstroke Eyeliner and Paperlight Cream Eye Colors, as well as the original curved Inkstroke Brush for quick and easy application.
The Eye Momentum makeup collection is developed in artistic collaboration with the calligrapher Nicolas Ouchenir.
Shiseido Instroke Eyeliner is a potted cream-to-gel eyeliner inspired by the type of ink used in Japanese calligraphy – Sumi ink. The eyeliner is highly pigmented, water resistant, and designed to create amazing, long-lasting, graphic eyes without creasing, blurring, skipping or smudging. The eyeliner is presented in an exquisite Shiseido container inspired by Japanese ink stones used for calligraphy. It promises up to 8 hours of perfect hold, even application, and total resistance against fading and smudging. The v-shaped section in the middle of the pot is actually a slit that can be used to wipe off excess product from the brush.
Shiseido Inkstroke Eyeliner comes in six shades, inspired by Japanese landscapes: Shinrin Green, Empitsu Gray, Kuromitsu Brown, Kon-Al Blue, Shikkoku Black, and Nasubi Purple. Shiseido Instroke Eyeliner is available for $30.00 - Shop now.
Shiseido has also created a special curved brush inspired by sumi brushes used for Japanese ink wash painting and brush-and-ink calligraphy. Each of these original brushes is handcrafted by artists of Kumano cho, which is the world’s capital of brushes, and produces 80% of the brushes made in Japan for painting, writing and cosmetics.
A closer look at the new Shiseido Instroke Eyeliner Brush reveals that it has an ultra-fine tip made up of tiny brush hairs. The tip of the brush is slightly curved to an angle of 30° allowing for the most precise application and drawing a perfect line. The exclusive Shiseido Instroke Brush is available for purchase for $28.00.
Last but not least, the collection includes Shiseido Paperlight Cream Eye Color, inspired by Japanese washi papers that are used in used in many traditional arts, such as Origami, Shodo, and Ukiyo-e. The colorful cream eyeshadows come in six shades: Yamabuki (yellow), Shobu Purple, Nobara Pink, Sango Coral, Usuzumi Beige Gray, Hisui Green, and Namiki (yellow-green). A selection of shades is already available for purchase, and it retails for $25.00.
