Beauty companies collaborating with celebrities has become one of the hottest trends among many of our favorite beauty brands. Brand collaborations aren't new, but it seems like they’re more powerful than ever. One of the latest, and certainly most interesting collaborations happening right now, is the one between the actress Whoopi Goldberg and Maya Elisabeth, the owner of medical cannabis manufacturer Om Edibles. Together, they have created a medical marijuana company named Whoopi & Maya. Their controversial range of cannabis-based products, available for purchase in California only, is aimed at reducing menstrual discomfort in women.
The company Maya & Whoopi offers cannabis edibles, tinctures, and topical rubs, as well as a cannabis-infused relaxing bath soak. Goldberg, who is 60, is long past menopause, but she wanted to create something to help her grown granddaughters who have severe cramps. Her goal was to create a discreet product that provides a relief, based on the healing powers of medical marijuana she uses to alleviate her strong glaucoma-related headaches. With Whoopi & Maya products, you don’t have to smoke a joint and go to work - put it in your purse, and simply rub on your lower stomach and lower back, no matter where you are.
The interesting thing about these products is that they actually contain THC, which is a psychoactive substance that is generally responsible for most of marijuana's psychological effects. In other words, Maya & Whoopi products may even get you high, but there is no scientific evidence that marijuana, or THC, may help with dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps). We don’t say that Whoopi is not being honest in her approach. It’s just the fact that some people respond better to marijuana in treatment of some conditions, doesn’t mean it should be a recommended, or even preferred, therapy.

Whoopi, who is a public supporter of marijuana use, says that her products are designed for people who don’t want to get too high, but instead just want to relieve their pain and self-induce calming relaxation. But, don’t get too excited – the range will only be available in California, and only to people with medical marijuana cards. Nevertheless, marijuana industry is one of America’s fastest growing, and the drift toward legalization slowly spreads to all 50 states.
Whoopi & Maya range currently includes four different products:
Whoopi & Maya Soak is formulated with naturally produced Epsom Salts, a simple mineral compound made from Magnesium and Sulfate. The salts in this bath soak are combined with cannabis, skin nourishing oils, and therapeutic grade essential oils. Thanks to the medical cannabis, the bath soak promotes a state of deep relaxation and offers relief from aches and discomfort. Available in 3 fragrances: Lavender, Amber Moon, & Fragrance free.
Whoopi & Maya Savor is the high-quality chocolate made from medical cannabis and raw cacao - an unprocessed super food rich in magnesium, iron, vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants. Compounds in cacao can lower blood pressure, enhance circulation, reduce plaque on artery walls, and improve digestion. Once it enters the body, it releases a range of feel good chemicals, and helps with inflammation, sleep, pain, irritability, joint pain, and the uterine cramping and discomfort. Available in both THC and CBD.
Whoopi & Maya Rub is a medical cannabis body balm formulated to provide menstrual relief. The balm features a blend of healing herbs, a beeswax base, and a blend of skin nourishing oils. In addition to cannabis flowers, the list of ingredients includes white willow bark, a natural source of aspirin, ginger, which boosts blood circulation, and St. Johns Wart, to uplift the mood and help support the ups and downs associated with P.M.S.
Whoopi & Maya Relax is a cannabis based tincture formulated with medicinal herbs and superfoods. The tincture includes immune system boosting elderberries, camp bark, red raspberry, motherwort, and calming passion flower. The herbs are combined with raw, organic, unfiltered honey, and sun grown cannabis.Advertisement
