Makeup artist Laura Mercier and Claudia Poccia, head of Avon's mark unit since 2005, have teamed up for a noble cause. They have set up a foundation named The Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund to raise awareness and fun research and educational efforts to help diagnose, treat and cure ovarian cancer.
A small range of exclusive products will be released under the “Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund” brand, and 100% of the profits from their sale will go directly to the cause. American Cancer Society estimates that 22,280 new cases of ovarian cancer will be diagnosed in the U.S. this year and 15,500 women will die of the disease. As for any other serious disease, early detection can reduce the mortality rates and increase the chances for successful treatment.
There are two makeup products available at this point, both launching with the start of Ovarian Cancer Month on Saturday: Laura Mercier Bonne Mine Healthy Glow for Face & Cheeks Crème Colour Palette, priced at $48, and Laura Mercier Lip Glacé in Rose Hope for $24.The products will be available for purchase at all Laura Mercier doors in the USA and Canada, as well as in Sephora and Holt Renfrew. To promote the cause, 800,000 teal-colored ribbons, symbolizing the awareness for the ovarian cancer , will also be distributed.
